Born on an early morning in Arlington Heights, Illinois— currently living in Boulder, Colorado— Austin Heller cannot be described any simpler than as a guy who does Internet stuff. He edits and publishes Macintosh customization site MacThemes.net; dabbles in software design; and, when not busy fending off responsibilities or “real” work, runs his humble weblog— the product of sleepless nights, invalid code, and occasionally a few blips of insight.
Austin also enjoys long walks on the beach, Piña Colada Slurpees, and worrying about school work. Filmmaking in various capacities has crept up as a personal hobby and profession in the past, and with any luck, will treat him kindly as he figures out what the hell to do when the safety wheels of education break off the bicycle of life (a shame, he often thinks to himself, that “God-Awful Metaphors” is not available as a major.)
Austin does not like blog comments— really, it’s nothing personal— but if you’d like to drop a line, do so at me -at- austinheller dot com. Austin reads the whole stack, and makes an effort to respond back to all of it, positive or negative.
Austin has had a website in various capacities since around 2001; the current format has been operating since 2007, and is probably the most interesting, content-wise, of his previous editions (and, unlike the first edition, not made in AOL PageBuilder).
AustinHeller.com is published with Movable Type 4.2, fine blogging software which only tends to get on his nerves when he’s particularly irritable. Prose is written in MarsEdit, filtered in Markdown and SmartyPants for ease of publication; and code is sloppily scrapped together in Coda— possibly the best project-oriented website editor ever made. The site design is home-grown and constantly adjusted, and on a good day, is valid XHTML.
